The 3 Things That Increased Revenue At Adelaide Glaziers — Part 2: Energy
When I first started Adelaide Glaziers I naturally had that hungry energy. Every call mattered. Every job mattered. You pick up the phone excited because you need the work.
But over time, especially once things get busier, you can lose that edge without really noticing.
I definitely went through patches where my tone wasn’t great. I sounded flat. Disinterested. And I noticed pretty quickly what happened — customers would say “okay no worries, I’ll call you back” and most of the time they never did.
When I was engaged though — just a genuine “yep, absolutely, pretty sure we can help” with some energy behind it — follow-through was noticeably better. Not fake salesman energy. Just present. Ready to help.
I also noticed how much the small things matter during a call. Simple stuff like “yep,” “gotcha,” “okay.” Because when a customer is explaining their situation and there’s just silence on the other end, it gets awkward fast.
Looking back, this probably changed more outcomes than I realised at the time. People respond to someone who sounds like they actually want the job. And honestly, I think a lot of tradies lose work simply because their energy on the phone isn’t there.
